CHALLENGE
The award-winning Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies can easily be regarded as one of the most socially eloquent, culturally erudite, and design innovative structures in Qatar. It was established with the concept of embodying the richness and diversity of the Islamic heritage. Its unique architectural form is built upon the idea of the Islamic “Kulliyya” or “a place where all knowledge is sought”. The scheme suggests that knowledge and faith are interrelated, but that all knowledge ultimately comes from faith. This inspiration is evident in the infinite spiral of the building plan.
When Gibca had the opportunity to be part of this project, the client required us to design a cubicle that ensured maximum privacy with a stylish modern appearance of the glass to complement the overall concept of the project. Trying to match their aesthetic was a challenge but Gibca managed to overcome this by proposing Hybrid Onyx — a customized washroom cubicle.
SOLUTION
It was bliss working with the project consultants as they were with us through every step and communicated to all the parties with transparency and ease with what the client had envisioned. Thus, we were able to develop a complete washroom solution that gave justice to the overall aesthetic of the building.
The result of this was Hybrid Onyx — a blend between our top cubicle range, Naturelle and Onyx. It was the perfect fit for the project as it’s a three-meter-high toilet cubicle built with superior quality and durability having a minimal bottom and top clearance providing maximum privacy to its occupants. The panels are made of 12mm thick tempered back-painted glass door that elevated the overall look of the washroom area. As for the plumbing system, they were concealed behind the back panels made with high-pressure compact laminate.
Upon the completion of the project, the client was pleased with the end result as the appearance of the slick glass cubicles gave an elegant and exquisite-looking washroom meeting the client’s expectations.
